This month we are doing a Fire Safety Meeting at the local Fire Department

• The average cost is $350 per week
• $75 application fee
• $175 selection fee
• Program fee of $7,595 - Occasionally we have discounts running that qualify you to a discount off the program fee.
• Au pair’s current weekly stipend of $195.75 for the year
• Educational component of up to $500 per au pair (au pairs have to take 6 credits within the year)
• Additional costs are domestic transportation fees from the au pair school to the host family’s home area  (au pair shuttle to Clark, NJ is $55)

Payment Information

• Regular Payment Plan
  $175 selection fee is due upon the selection of the au pair.
  $7,595 program fee is due 30 days prior to the au pair’s arrival to the Au Pair Training School. The host family has the option of paying by check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted).
• Extended Payment Plan
  $2,395 initial deposit + $200 financing fee due thirty (30) days prior to au pair arrival. Balance is paid in three installments.
  $2,000 (first installment) + $50 financing fee + domestic transportation fee, due 8 weeks after au pair arrival.
  $1,600 (second installment) + $50 financing fee due at 16 weeks after au pair arrival.
  $1,600 (third installment) + $50 financing fee due at 24 weeks after au pair arrival.
  Families must host an au pair for a minimum of 44 weeks in order to be eligible for the Extended Payment Plan.

• Extension Program Fees - Current host families have an option to extend their term with their au pair for 6, 9 or 12 months. The program fees for the Extension Program are as follows:
  • 12 months: $5,695
  • 9 months: $4,495
  • 6 months: $3,195

ESL Intermediate Conversation
Improve your ability to use the English language in everyday situations and conversations. Listening and speaking in English are practiced in this class which is 24 hours in length (2 credits). Practice makes perfect (or at least it helps!) Dates: Wednesdays, March 7 thru May 30 (no class March 14) Time: 9:30 am -11:30 am

The Birth of American Culture
What do you know about the American Dream? It started with our history of gaining independence from Great Britain. This class will take you through our history and the principles of liberty, equality and brotherhood that stem from the Enlightenment that influences our early colonists. The basics of the US Constitution and our rights as citizens will also be covered. The class is 9 hours in length. (1 credit)

Contemporary American Issues
United States policy is influenced by many present day issues: illegal immigration, vouchers and charter schools, unaffordable higher education, gay rights, bullying, the economic meltdown and affirmative action to name a few. This class will cover many of the issues faced in contemporary America. By attending this class you will be informed about what’s happening around you, in the news and around the world. This class is 9 hours in length (1 credit). Dates: Thursdays, April 26 thru May 31 Time: 9:30 am-11:00 am Cost $95 Course Code: AEAC-101-140

Getting there earlier is suggested to take advantage of the entire skating time.

Every once in a while I get frantic calls from au pairs who received a letter from court requesting them to Jury Duty. Don’t worry. You are not eligible to be on Jury Duty in NJ or any other state.

Citizens are randomly selected to serve as jurors in trial courts located in the county of their residence, in our case Essex County. If you have a driver’s license or have filed a state income tax return, your name is in the jury pool. Just write back that you are not a United States Citizen or call the number on the letter. You will be dismissed.
